The trip was fantastic, thanks Jorge for making all the right calls on where to surf. The highlight for me was the morning session on the second last day at lances left....remember those sparkling glass cylinders running down the reef....perfect... Everything on the boat was great, good food, good crew, and cold beer.
See you next year,
Ronan (2004)

Arrived home early and in one piece. We had an awesome time. The “Irish Mist” and the crew were just superb. George is an insane maniac and the surf was 4 – 6’ every day. Thanks again.
Cheers

The trip was really good. Sensational. I had such a great trip. The service was great and I thought it was great that we got maximum time in the surf and you traveled through the night.
I will talk to you again later in the year regarding chartering your boat but it should not be a problem to get 6 mates together.
Thanks again and i hope you are scoring more perfect waves. The surf has been cold and shit here but my memories of such a fantastic trip are helping to ease the pain. I hope your vern surfboard is holding tight.

I was just going through my deleted e-mails and retrieved yours so I can always hold onto the great memories that I had while aboard the “Irish Mist”. It has been a very busy time for me since returning and the only thing besides my family that keeps me going was the trip and the great surf, food, companionship and best of all the relaxation which is always hard for me to find. I hope your travels have been fun and the passengers on board where the kind of people that you could enjoy. We just received our first nice swell of the winter and I have to say that it was a challenge surfing with so many people knowing that there is a place out their somewhere with a local islander looking for a coconut and a perfect wave peeling down the reef. Please give a big aloha to Hendra & Tomcat for me.

Two days ago I just arrived from my trip in from North Sumatra with “Irish Mist”.

This was a dream coming true, all those waves only to us, with the knowledge and willing of the captain and strong as “Irish Mist” is, you can reach all at once: Best waves, no crowed, and the best service on board - This was the best surf trip of my life; I will be back next year.

Time passes quickly and I can't believe it’s already been a month since I was enjoying your company in the beautiful Mentawai's. I really enjoyed the trip, the company; the boat and the food were all top class. Of course it would have been nice to get a bit bigger swell at times.

All in all I can only be positive about the trip. I was very impressed with the quality and quantity of food – we were never hungry and I especially enjoyed the Savichi (God knows how you spell this - Peruvian National dish!). The crew was great and topped off by Jorge's extensive local knowledge, kind heart and warm hospitality. I wouldn't hesitate to book another trip with you, it sure beats being back here in cold winter Victoria.

TESTIMONIAL FOR THE “IRISH MIST”

My son and I went on a 10 day trip to the Mentawai in June 2004. In one word, the experience was fantastic.

The boat itself is comfortable and kept spotlessly clean. Jorge runs a very tight ship, takes no chances, everything works, and one feels completely at ease safety-wise. The atmosphere on the boat (I suppose it also depends a lot on the rest of the passengers) was very laid-back and friendly. The crew is particularly helpful, and if it depended on them, you would not need to lift a hand, apart from raising the Bintang tin and knife and fork! The food was awesome – fresh, plenty, and really good quality – with something for the eye, fresh fruit, fresh fish (even lobster one night) (Jorge is a very dedicated fisherman – he even went spear fishing once), very well prepared.

Surfing wise, I doubt whether anyone in the business is more experienced than Jorge in finding the right spot at the right time – we had great surf for 10 days non-stop. He goes to a lot of trouble to get you there – pores over the charts day & night, sails at night to get to the spot at dawn – nobody else there!!! Thanks also for the special attention, Jorge. (For the record, I am a 60 yr old geezer who does door matting!). The rubber duck and speedboat are always at your disposal to drop you off and go to check out spots.

All-in all, a wonderful experience – well worth the money. I give the “Irish Mist” 110%.
